Huynh Tan Phat

Huynh Tan Phat was born in 1913 just outside of My Tho in Dinh Tuong Province. He went to Hanoi University and became actively involved in anti-French nationalism. During the years of Ngo Dinh Diem's reign over the Republic of Vietnam, Huynh Tan Phat became active in the National Liberation Front (Vietcong), becoming its secretary-general in 1964. In 1969, he became president of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam.
